THROAT CANCER SURGERY

Description: A Throat cancer surgery is performed for the treatment of early-stage throat cancers. Several procedures are adopted for treating the cancer. Pre Procedure - The surgeon is administered anaesthesia. - The patient also has to write down any symptoms that are experienced. - Also, the medications taken by the patient have to be informed. - The patient is required not to eat or drink anything before the procedure. During Procedure There are many procedures - Excision: The surgery involves removal of the tumour from the body. - Vocal Cord Stripping: In this procedure, a long surgical instrument is used to remove the outer layers of the tissue on the vocal cords. It is also used for a biopsy. - Laser surgery: An endoscope with a high-intensity laser is inserted into the throat which can be used to direct the rays at the tumour. - Cordectomy: This is used to treat the cancer of the glottis.
