1. Blood after passing a stool (The solid matter that is discharged in a bowel movement), that is visible when wiping.
2. Bottom is getting itchy
3. Feeling like your bowels are still full and need emptying
4. Discharge of mucus after going to the loo
How to avoid getting piles in pregnancy
Though it is quite common during pregnancy, you can avoid getting piles by following things below:
1. Keep yourself hydrated and away from constipation by drinking lots of fluids.
2. Consume foods that are high in fibre, including fruit, veg and wholemeal bread
3. Improving your circulation by exercising regularly.
4. Don’t push too hard on the loo, you can always try again after drinking some water or eating some food high in fibre.
How to treat piles in pregnancy
If you have piles there a few things you can do to reduce the symptoms:
1. Take few ice cubes wrapped in a towel and place it on the piles to relieve the pain and irritation around your bottom
2. After going to loo gently clean that area. It is recommended to use moist toilet wipes and not toilet tissue. It’ll also help to pat not wipe
3. You can attempt to gently push the piles back into the rectum using a lubricating jelly or when in the bath or shower
4. Discuss things with your doctors so that they can help you and prescribe any ointments or medication to help soothe the symptoms that are safe to use during pregnancy.
Can piles harm my baby?
