OVARIAN CANCER SURGERY

Ovarian cancer surgery is a surgery that is used as a primary treatment for removal of the cancerous tumor present in the ovaries.

The extent of the surgery depends on the spread of cancer and the patient’s general health.

Certain other surgeries have to be performed such as:

- Appendectomy (removing the appendix)

- The layer of fat near the intestine is also removed to find cancerous cells.

- If the cancer cells have spread over a region then the surgeon will remove as much of the tumor possible. The procedure is called as debunking.
